As part of CFEE’s continued journey of Truth and Reconciliation, we are expanding the Indigenous Peoples’ Money & Youth initiative into 2026. This next phase is guided by our commitment to listen, learn, and build resources that genuinely reflect the experiences and needs of Indigenous youth, families, and communities.
In this work, we are honoured to partner with the Aboriginal Council of Winnipeg and IG Wealth Management, who continue to support the development and sharing of this resource across the country.
This stage of the program is grounded in something simple: learning together. Communities have told us that financial learning is most meaningful when it aligns with Indigenous knowledge, values, and lived realities. We welcome anyone who wishes to explore the resource with us and share insights that can help strengthen future versions.
What This Phase of the Pilot Is About
Rather than a formal “test,” this stage is about sharing, listening, and building a better experience together. Anyone who wishes to explore the resource—schools, teachers, youth groups, community organizations, caregivers, Elders, or cultural leaders—is welcome to take part in whatever way makes sense for their community.
There is no required structure, and participation does not need to follow a specific number of modules. Some groups may choose to explore the guide with youth over multiple weeks, while others may read it on their own or use just the pieces that are most helpful. All forms of participation are welcome.
During 2026, we will also be increasing our on-the-ground presence, with provincial community liaisons beginning in the Prairies to help provide local support and create pathways for deeper connection.
What You Receive
Participants are welcome to use the resource in any way that fits their needs. Support includes:
- FREE online access to the full Indigenous Peoples’ Money & Youth Student Guide and lesson materials.
- Physical copies of the resource available for $45 per box of 20 books (plus HST) to cover shipping and handling. (The book order form link is at the bottom of this webpage.)
- When available, provincial liaisons may offer locally distributed copies at a discounted rate during 2026, while supplies last.
- Optional virtual orientation sessions for teachers, caregivers, and community groups who want a walkthrough of the materials.
- Access to community conversations, including surveys or virtual town halls, for anyone who wishes to share experiences, suggestions, or reflections. Participation is fully voluntary and at your comfort level.
How We Use What We Learn Together
Feedback is welcomed, but not expected. Communities can contribute in whatever way feels appropriate—whether that is a short comment, a story about how the resource was used, a suggestion for improvement, or simply exploring the material without sharing anything at all.
Insights from communities help us:
- Strengthen cultural relevancy and representation.
- Improve activities and teaching materials.
- Ensure the guide supports the realities and goals of Indigenous youth, families, and communities.
- Shape future versions of the resource and future community supports.
Your voice will guide where the program grows next.
About the Resource
Indigenous Peoples’ Money & Youth weaves culturally grounded teachings—including the Seven Sacred Teachings—together with key financial concepts. It builds on the long-standing Money and Youth program, which has supported more than 750,000 young Canadians, while integrating traditions, community knowledge, and practical reflections that help Indigenous youth build confidence in shaping their financial futures.
This resource was guided by Damon Johnston, developed with adaptation by Vanessa Everett, and strengthened through the contributions of reviewers from Indigenous communities across Manitoba and Alberta, along with CFEE’s curriculum and resource development team.
Who Can Participate
Participation is open to:
- First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, schools, and organizations
- Publicly funded schools with Indigenous youth
- Community programs, friendship centres, youth groups, and caregivers supporting Indigenous youth
- Individuals or educators who simply want to explore the resource
Participants may be located anywhere in Canada, with additional support becoming available first in the Prairie provinces as we develop provincial liaison roles.
